LENASO has coordinating structures from the community level where community committees are established and work in close collaboration with other existing community structures. LENASO supports and collaborates with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftainship (MOLC) to involve them in the community interventions and promote buy-in and ownership. LENASO has been always observing the gateway approach whereby the entrance to the community is the chief. LENASO has trained chiefs in various HIV programs and they are engaged in the community activities. LENASO has been attending and supporting the regular meetings of both chiefs and councilors. LENASO has support groups in the communities that are part of the Community AIDS Committees. LENASO supported the Ministry of Health to establish the Health Centre Committees (HCC) whereby the LENASO members are also part of the committees. LENASO members are also part of the District Child Protection Teams that were under the ministry of Social Development. There are well established LENASO Community Committees that support the coordination in the communities and report to the LENASO District Committees (DC) under supervision of the LENASO District Coordinator. LENASO sits in different national coordinating structures such as Technical Working Groups (TWGs) by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and various fora by National AIDS Commission where LENASO is representing CSOs and the community needs and priorities. LENASO is a member of the Social Cluster Committee by the parliamentarians to influence law changes and reinforcement. LENASO is also a member of Inter Agency Coordinating Committee that is chaired by the Minister of Health. The committee is working on the decisions vaccinations. LENASO is a member of Research Ethics Committee representing the community.
