DHMT support and capacity building in terms of strengthening PHC services.
LENASO is already supporting the Ministry of Health through DHMTs and provision of technical expertise and trainings to build capacity of the ministry in order to ensure effective and efficient provision of PHC services to achieve improved health outcomes. This support is expanded through engagement and sharing during the PHC meetings in different districts where LENASO attempts to strengthen and improve the quality and availability of essential primary health services such as outreach plans and support, improving management capacity of DHMTs to plan and deliver PHC services and improving services through better data use for decision making at the DHMT level. LENASO further facilitates the trainings of health professionals on community interventions that includes CAGS, community ART distributions and shares on findings on reasons why people default from treatment.
Furthermore, in collaboration with other stakeholders and building on past projects, LENASO will address identified needs within the health sector that limit its ability to respond to the health needs in the country. The Ministry of Health will be supported to improve clinical services through development and use of clinical practice guidelines and standard operating procedures for essential services, routine supportive supervision and mentoring, rationalization of the triage and referral processes at all levels, improved capacity of DHMTs to plan, budget and manage finances, services and programs, expanded use of the eRegister to improve patient records and data collection, and improved availability and use of information by the health system and other organizations.
